I know lots of people like cooking. If you are considering making a small business out of your passion for cooking, then you will find the simple things you need to do. Please note, I am interested in having people doing things themselves. This is because I understand people’s uniqueness. I provide the information and you go ahead and act on the information. You will need to go beyond the surface and go in-depth if you really want to make money online.
Here are the things you need to do make money online with your passion for cooking.
1. Create a YouTube account
First, you need to create a YouTube account via www.youtube.com to showcase your cooking skills. This is where you want people to see your cooking skills. I searched for the keyword “cooking” on YouTube and got about 6,650,000 results. Imagine, 6.6 million videos on cooking. What this tells you is that, there are lots of people doing this and that you can do it too.
2. Make instructional videos of your cooking
You will need to start making videos where you mention the food you want to cook, the recipe and then teach people how to cook the food. To get better response, you will want to focus on food/delicacies peculiar to the audience you are targeting. If you are targeting Nigerians, you will want to make instructional videos of you cooking Nigerian delicacies/food.
3. Upload and share the videos
Not many people will see your videos if you don’t upload them to YouTube or share them around after you upload them. Make sure you upload your videos to your YouTube account/channel then share the videos on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks and social chat messengers. Do these to get traction and views. This would also help you to test the waters. Also, work at getting more YouTube subscribers.
4. Learn wide and learn deep
At this point, you will want to learn a lot about dominating YouTube and how you can crack the YouTube cash code. You just need to check out those who make cooking videos on YouTube or Facebook. Learn their styles of teaching and making professional cooking videos.
5. Monetize your Videos
There are two ways through which you can monetize your YouTube videos. Both are based on marketing. The first one is contextual marketing/advertising and the other is influencer marketing.
For contextual marketing/advertising, you should apply for AdSense for YouTube. As your YouTube videos gets more views, you should apply for an AdSense account. With more views, you earn more money from AdSense for YouTube. Read what google has to say about signing up for AdSense for YouTube: Sign up for AdSense via YouTube
For influencer marketing, after you get many views, subscribers/followers and you are creating influence with your YouTube videos, make sure you reach out to food companies that would like to target your audience so you can mention/advertise their products in your videos. They’ll need to pay you before you do this. If you have problems with getting the companies/brands, you can sign up to join other social media influencers. With more views and subscribers, you get more food companies to advertise in your videos.
6. Advertise and Expand your Cooking Videos
As you start making money from your YouTube videos, don’t make the mistake of consuming all you earn. Set apart a percentage of the income for advertising and expansion. You can use Google AdWords and/or Facebook Video Ads to advertise your videos so you can get more views and subscriptions. Also, start your own video blog where you can upload and publish your videos. Use your own blog, YouTube and other video sites for expansion
Go ahead and act on this information and then start making money online with your cooking skills. Take note that, you need lots of eyes to see and learn from your videos. There are many ways to get more people to know what you do and more people to use what you teach in your videos. Just make sure you don’t limit yourself. Test and try various ways and do the ones that works for you.
